Picture in picture overlay hyprland error after omarchy-update

Omarchy 3.1.6 | Linux 6.17.7 | Hyprland (Wayland) | Ryzen 9 7900X | RX 7700 XT | 62GB RAM

What's wrong?

Did an omarchy update and hyprland started giving me a couple errors the first error had to do with a file at

.local/share/omarchy/default/hypr/apps/pip.conf

upon inspecting the issue the line of code that was corrupted was

windowrule = tag +pip, title:(Picture.{0,1}in.{0,1}[Pp]icture)

upon changing this line to something more generic...

windowrule = tag +pip, title:Picture.*Picture 

the error went away.

Not entirely sure what happened but hyprland seems happy now, just wanted to bring it to the teams awareness, could very well have to do with some other thing I have in my system, didn't do a full diagnosis (can do one if the omarchy team thinks it will be be helpful) but at least for now this got rid of the error message.

Biggest note this was after running an update just by clicking the little update icon next to the clock, which i rarely do but for conveniences sake I pressed the button. Probably wont be doing that again...

same exact error here as well, putting the generic change to the windowrule also removed the issues but unsure if this has any other consequences.

Same error, replacing the {0,1} in the regex with ? fixes (the two have the same meaning).

Update .local/share/omarchy/default/hypr/apps/pip.conf:

Change line 2 from:
windowrule = tag +pip, title:(Picture.{0,1}in.{0,1}[Pp]icture)
To this:
windowrule = tag +pip, title:(Picture.?in.?[Pp]icture)

I'm assuming it's due to the change mentioned at the top of the Hyprland window rules wiki page.

Looks like another kind person opened a PR for this fix too: #3255

better fix than what i did. the simple fix i did worked mostly fine but i was running into issues with steam... never ending battle continues
