Clicking Setup → Power profile closes the Omarchy menu and prevents it from reopening

When I open the Omarchy menu, navigate to Setup → Power profile, and click Power profile, the menu immediately closes and Omarchy cannot be opened again until I restart the walker process or my session.

Can you run pgrep walker and see if there's more than one process? If so, then pkill walker, and see if it works now. If it does, try to see if you can replicate that walker gets multiple processes every time.

I checked and found 4 walker processes running in Activity. If I pkill walker, it fixes the issue and I can open the Omarchy menu again.

When I click Power profile after killing the walker process, the menu stays open but the Power profile screen is empty — just a search field, no options.

If I restart my computer and then go to Omarchy → Setup → Power profile, it closes immediately again. Killing the walker process makes it stop closing, but still shows the empty menu in the power profile.

I’m on a Lenovo Legion Slim i5 laptop.

Try running powerprofilesctl list in the terminal and see if that gives the right output.

I ran powerprofilesctl list and got this:

The active profile is power-saver. The PlatformDriver shows placeholder for balanced and power-saver — not sure if that’s normal for this laptop.

Now run omarchy-powerprofiles-list. I assume you're on latest Omarchy, yeah? omarchy-update if not.

I tested a bit more and found this behavior:

1. Fresh reboot → Omarchy → Power profile:

   • Menu crashes immediately.
   • Need to pkill walker to reopen Omarchy.

2. After pkill walker → Power profile:

   • Menu opens but is empty.

3. If I run omarchy-powerprofiles-list in the terminal first → Power profile:

   • Menu shows the 3 profiles correctly.

4. If I reboot, then run omarchy-powerprofiles-list before opening Power profile in menu:

   • Works fine on first try (no crash, shows 3 profiles).

So it seems the act of running omarchy-powerprofiles-list in the terminal “initializes” something that prevents the crash and allows the profiles to appear in the UI.

You can also see from the attached image that I’m on the latest Omarchy version.

I was investigating this issue and mine is because I installed Python via Mise. It puts the Mise Python in front of the PATH. There are 2 possible fixes:

1. One simple fix is to add this: export PATH=/usr/bin:$PATH to .bashrc so that it resolves the system Python first.

2. Create a wrapper script, eg:

cat ~/.local/bin/powerprofilesctl
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/python3 /usr/bin/powerprofilesctl "$@"

@dhh I see this popping up in a few open issues.

We have fix for the missing PyGObject on default systems in the next version. But yes, we still do have a lingering conflict with uv/mise pythons. Like the idea of exploring a wrapper. We need something for tte too.
