Omarchy is using Nautilus right now. Personally i've ditched all GUI filemanagers years ago and don't miss any, but still: IF there's a place for a TUI filemanager in omarchy, i think there should be more investigation first. There are so many: mc, ranger, yazi, superfile and and and Just "blindly" adding mc would seem rushed. |

This is very neat, and I'd like to find a way to make extra setups like this easier. But I don't use MC, and I'm happy with Nautilus, so not a good fit for the defaults. Thanks for proposing though! |

This installs Midnight Commander. This file manager is over 30 years old, but still get updates and is in my opinion the best file manager in Linux.
New users will need to get used to the keybindings, but once you do, you may love them.
Warning: you may never like normal file managers like Nautilus again.
You can see the most important shortcuts in the keybar at the bottom of the screen. (you can hide this)
These keybinding are the same as Norton Commander had in MS-DOS.
There are a lot more keybindings and configuration options. See
man mc.It is a TUI, but you can use the mouse. Use F9 to get in the menu's without using the mouse.
I only changed these settings:
