Update just date automatically

Hello,

I'm trying to use the oldestdate plugin to set the date of songs, but it requires the singleton mode, thus modifying all album-related fields in songs. Is there any way to apply only changes in date?

I tried tagging the album first, then the date in singleton mode, and then retagging the album, which restores the date to it's original value. Is there any workflow to prevent this?

Update: I almost got this working using this plugin: https://github.com/adamjakab/BeetsPluginYearFixer/tree/master.

1. Now when I import the music files I get date and original_date with the release date of the album and the release date of the first album in the release group.
2. After running the plugin I have original_date populated with the oldest date for each song.

Can anyone help me to swap values between fields, so I get:

• release_date with the date fetch in 1)
• original_date with the original_date fetch in 1)
• date with the original_date as in 2)
