ASTRA 0.1.1-alpha refines the first public alpha while preserving its combat balance and model/provider choices.

  • K opens the complete, scrollable controls card on Mac; the pause menu also has Controls. Hold Q for the equipment wheel, with real rifle/sidearm ownership, the datapad and empty hands.
  • Flight Control handles routine work autonomously within the Captain’s intent; the helm keeps its proposal-based delegation. Saved explicit choices remain respected.
  • Stable agent instructions are cacheable while current facts remain complete. Professional memories retain the original source wording, including negations and exceptions. The rolling history stays bounded; no automatic LLM compaction was added.
  • The wall through the Kestrel bay is fixed. Boarding events drive visible loading and departure before the existing cabin and boarding flow. Laser pulses are shorter and lighter; damage and battle tuning are unchanged.
  • Expanded 4K in-game gallery and actual 60 fps cinematic footage: https://astra.noesisai.it.

The Apple Silicon macOS app is a Shipping build, signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and carries a validated stapled ticket. Gatekeeper verification passed. The game asks for your own OpenRouter key with credit on first launch; no developer keys are included.

Validation: 457 offline mind regression tests, real-model delegation and memory checks, an actual crew session, a complete Captain-and-marines boarding round trip, and C++/portability checks. This remains an alpha.

Windows packaging and build instructions are available in the repository. A prebuilt Windows executable has not been produced or tested on Windows.

The first public build of ASTRA: a first-person space war in which every person you meet has a mind of their own.

You command the ASN Aquila at the Janus Gate. Talk to your officers in your own language and they answer, act and report; allied
captains fight beside you with their own judgment; Mandate commanders call you on an open channel; a high command moves real fleets on a
real map. Leave the chair to walk the ship's decks, or take a Falcon off the flight deck yourself.

In this alpha

  • A campaign at the Janus Gate of the Aurelia March, with the war of the whole March around it, the loss of the ship and a new command after it, and a narrated end to each chapter.
  • A spoken, subtitled introduction (Space skips a shot, Esc skips it all; INTRODUCTION in the menu plays it again).
  • Voices and speech recognition on your own machine in seven languages (English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch).
  • SETTINGS for graphics, display, sound, the crew's language, mouse and keys, and your OpenRouter key.

Install (macOS, Apple Silicon)

  1. Download ASTRA-0.1.0-alpha-macOS-AppleSilicon.zip, unzip it and move ASTRA to Applications.
  2. Open it. The app is signed with the developer's Apple Developer ID; Apple's notarization of this first build is pending, so macOS may say
it cannot verify the app: open System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway (once). A notarized build will replace this one.
  3. Paste your OpenRouter API key when it asks (https://openrouter.ai/keys, a little credit is enough to start): the game checks it and its credit.
  4. The first start downloads the crew's voices and hearing (about 3 GB, once). A microphone is optional: T types an order.

Requires macOS 14 or later on an M-series Mac; 16 GB of memory recommended.

Windows

Windows is the main platform for players, but a Windows build has to be made on a Windows PC (Unreal Engine cannot build Windows from a
Mac). With Unreal Engine 5.8.3 and Visual Studio 2022: tools\windows\Pacchetto-Windows.ps1 -Config Shipping -Zip. A Windows download
will come with the next release.

Checksum

ASTRA-0.1.0-alpha-macOS-AppleSilicon.zip.sha256 holds the SHA-256 of the zip.

Known issues

  • The crew are still Unreal's mannequins.
  • In the heaviest battles the resolution drops to hold the frame rate on a MacBook Air.
  • Now and then two officers ask the Captain the same question, or the fleet's news runs ahead of the map.
