v0.4.0
v0.4.0 Release Notes
New Game Flow
- Added Shandalar-style new game screens for difficulty and color selection.
- Starting decks now vary by Apprentice, Magician, Sorcerer, and Wizard difficulty and by chosen color.
- Fixed Wizard difficulty generating a mostly colorless deck instead of a five-color deck.
- Saves are now grouped by playthrough, keeping only the latest save per game.
World And Progression
- Added five color-themed wizard castles with matching terrain zones.
- Castle encounters now use specific powerful wizard opponents.
- Defeating a castle marks it destroyed and grants powerful cards in that castle's color.
- Random enemies now scale with player progress, including deck size, powerful cards owned, days passed, combats completed, and castles defeated.
- Enemies near castles are biased toward that castle's color and can be stronger.
Duel Improvements
- Added London Mulligan before duels.
- Added manual combat damage assignment UI.
- Attacking is clearer: selected and declared attackers stay visually forward, and drag-and-drop attacking was removed.
- Actionable cards now get an orange border instead of an asterisk.
- Life total changes animate, and creature power/toughness text is larger.
- Duel pacing is slower around enemy actions and damage so turns are easier to follow.
- Escape now closes duel overlays like graveyard, targeting, X choice, and ability choice views.
Rules, Cards, And AI
- AI got better at combat, targeting, regeneration, auto-tapping, X spells, lethal attacks, and full-turn planning.
- Added or improved support for many mechanics, including Scry, Flash, Ward, Stun counters, Surveil, hybrid mana, modal spells, spell copying, Food and Treasure tokens, fight, graveyard and exile casting, graveyard abilities, replacement effects, extra land plays, cost reductions, and multi-target or divided-damage spells.
- Fixed many rules and card issues, including combat damage, banding, Earthbind, Nettling Imp, Power Surge, Path to Exile, planeswalker damage targeting, flashback exile, and many individual card implementations.
Engine Content
- Added Jumpstart and Secrets of Strixhaven cards and catalog implementations.
- Note: these sets exist in
mage-go, but the current game card pool still depends on which sets are imported by Shandalar 30.
