Local Ad 1.0.3

Changed

  • The plugin is now called Local Ad (previously "Local Ads by Bernard"). Only the displayed name changes: on the Plugins screen, in the admin footer credit, in the update details and in the documentation. The folder, settings, ads, statistics and menu are unchanged, so updating is safe.

Install or update

  • From 1.0.2: update from Dashboard → Updates or the Plugins screen.
  • New install or from 1.0.1 or earlier: download local-ads.zip below, then Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin (choose Replace current with uploaded when upgrading).

Requires WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+.

Local Ads by Bernard 1.0.2

@Bernard-Ogak Bernard-Ogak released this 03 Oct 06:01

Local Ads by Bernard 1.0.2

Added

  • Updates from GitHub. New releases now appear on Dashboard → Updates and the Plugins screen like any other plugin update, with one-click and automatic updates and release notes under View details. The check sends no site, ad or visitor data and can be turned off with the local_ads_github_updates filter.

Fixed

  • The translation template header now reports the current version.

Install or update

  • New install or upgrading from 1.0.1 or earlier: download local-ads.zip below, then Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin (choose Replace current with uploaded when upgrading).
  • From 1.0.2 on, later versions arrive through the normal WordPress update screens.

Requires WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+.

Local Ads by Bernard 1.0.1

@Bernard-Ogak Bernard-Ogak released this 03 Oct 02:23

A small update that lets analytics tools see your popup ads.

Install

  1. Download local-ads.zip below.
  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP and click Install Now. If 1.0.0 is installed, choose Replace current with uploaded; your ads, images, settings and statistics are kept.
  3. Click Activate Plugin.

Requirements: WordPress 5.8+, PHP 7.4+.

What's new

  • localads:track browser event. Each time a popup is shown (after its image has loaded) or its link is clicked, Local Ads dispatches localads:track on document with detail: { id, type }, where type is impression or click. It never fires in previews, and it carries only the advertisement ID.
  • Works with Blue Lens Analytics 0.5. Blue Lens uses the event to link ad clicks to visits, showing which channels and pages lead to clicks and how many ad clickers convert.

Nothing else changes: the database, settings and Local Ads' own analytics work exactly as in 1.0.0.

@Bernard-Ogak Bernard-Ogak released this 03 Oct 01:08

First public release of Local Ads by Bernard, a self-hosted advertisement manager for WordPress by Bernard Ogak · Creative Bay.

Install

  1. Download local-ads.zip below.
  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Install Now.
  3. Click Activate. Local Ads appears in the admin menu.

Requires WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+.

Highlights

  • Responsive image popups with scroll, delay and immediate triggers, 8 entrance animations and a temporary attention shake (motion off for visitors who prefer reduced motion).
  • Scheduling in your site's timezone. Ads start and stop on time even without WP-Cron.
  • Concurrent campaigns with conflict warnings, a concurrency limit and a monthly calendar. Visitors still see only one popup per page view.
  • Random, sequential, priority and weighted rotation, plus per-ad visitor frequency (session, visit, day, every X hours).
  • Page targeting and exclusions (homepage, posts, pages, WooCommerce products, checkout, cart, login, URL patterns).
  • Daily impressions, clicks and CTR per ad and campaign, lifetime totals, charts and CSV export. Counters are atomic, so simultaneous clicks are never lost.
  • Images stored locally in wp-content/uploads/local-ads/ with content-based validation.
  • No third-party ad network and no visitor personal data stored.
