v2.0.0
Release of the Volunteer Manager that introduces support for Volunteering Displays, as well as powerful subscription management.
Volunteering Displays
A display sub-app has been introduced, intended to run on purpose built physical displays that we'll distribute to locations during the event.
- Displays automatically register themselves, and need to be provisioned by an administrator
- Provisioning happens based on an event and a location, and can be updated at any time,
- Provisioned displays can be configured to a particular colour, and the device can be (un)locked,
- They will automatically update their state at a configured interval.
- Displays show useful information for the location
- They can display current and upcoming volunteers, as well as a full volunteering schedule,
- They can display, when enabled, a Del a Rie Advies prompt,
- They integrate with the device and can show debugging information, such as assigned IP addresses.
- Help can be requested straight from the displays
- Requests are categorised between Crew, Stewards, and when enabled, Del a Rie Advies,
- Individuals can subscribe to such requests, and will receive immediate notifications
- Requests can be seen in the administration area,
- Requests can be managed in the schedule sub-app.
The displays run an Android app that's available in the volunteer-manager-display repository.
Subscription management
A pub-sub mechanism intended for distributing notifications that happen in the Volunteer Manager. Where it previously was hardcoded that an e-mail should be sent to a particular address when an application is received, when publication of such an action happens any user can now subscribe to it, and receive updates using e-mail, text messaging or WhatsApp.
- Flexible publication mechanism, with subscription management
- Any user with the "subscription eligibility" permission can be subscribed to any publication,
- All publications are logged and instrumented, and can be traced back to the source origin.
- Flexible notification fan-out to any number of channels
- All subscriptions can be send to any number of channels: e-mail, text messaging and/or WhatsApp,
- Fan-out registration happens on publication, execution will happen in scheduled background tasks.
- Integration with Twilio for distributing text and WhatsApp messages.
Various #3 changes are included in this release that are not covered in this changelog.
