U-Tad Big Data Master's Degree Lessons Learnt

This is a set of practice lessons learnt during the first U-Tad Master's Degree in Big Data (Oct 2013 - May 2014).

  • Oct 26th, 2013:

  • hadoop.fs Basic Operations in HDFS using Java API.

  • flume Echo Sample.

  • Nov 23rd, 2013:

  • wordcount

  • writables - hottest day of the year

  • pangool - temperature changes

  • thrift - thrift usage sample

  • Nov 29th, 2013:

  • patterns - Including Inverted Index, Secondary Sort, etc.

  • Dec 14th, 2013:

  • hive - Hive Samples. Regex Serde table creation, CTAS, etc.

  • twitter - Flume + Twitter + Hive. Analyzing tweets.

  • Dec 20th, 2013:

  • pig - Pig Samples.

  • Jan 11th, 2014:

  • webhdfs - Hadoop WebHDFS REST API samples.

  • hadoop_streaming - Hadoop Streaming Samples using Awk and Ruby.

  • Jan 17th-18th, 2014:

  • R - First steps in R. Step by step lessons as showed in class.

  • Jan 24th, 2014:

  • R - Temporal series and principal component analysis samples (sample_6).

  • Jan 25th, 2014:

  • R - Clustering, Kmeans, PAM, Decision Trees

  • Jan 31st, 2014:

  • R - Neuronal Networks and Association Rules Samples in R.

  • Feb 1st, 2014:

  • R - Data Tables, Lists, and R + Hadoop samples.

  • Feb 22nd, 2014:

  • HBase API - HBase Api. Pair programming session with Fran.

  • Mar 7th, 2014:

  • Cassandra - Util class.

  • Mar 22nd, 2014:

  • Neo4j - Example 01.

  • Apr 12th, 2014:

  • Storm - Storm Hello World and ClickStats Sample
