md2word is an online Markdown-to-Word/PDF converter built for people who work with AI-generated content, technical documents, and academic writing.
If you've ever copied a ChatGPT response into Word and spent 20 minutes fixing the formatting — md2word is for you.
Paste your Markdown. Click export. Done.
- ChatGPT / AI users — export AI-generated Markdown to a clean
.docxor PDF in seconds - Students & academics — turn notes and drafts into properly formatted documents
- Technical writers — convert docs, READMEs, and reports without touching Pandoc
- Non-technical teammates — share Markdown content in formats everyone can open
- ✅ Markdown → Word (
.docx) and PDF export (based on the current live app) - ✅ Preserves headings, paragraphs, lists, code blocks, tables, and quotes
- ✅ Use it in your browser — no local Pandoc or Microsoft Office installation required
- ✅ Designed for AI-generated content workflows (ChatGPT output, Claude, etc.)
- ✅ Standard web conversions usually do not require user login (see the live site for current access requirements)
- ✅ Fast and lightweight — usually quick to try (see the live site for current access requirements)
- Go to md2word.com
- Paste your Markdown content
- Choose your export format: Word or PDF
- Download your file
That's it.
Pandoc is powerful — but it requires installation, command-line knowledge, and often a fair bit of tweaking to get the output looking right. For most people who just want to share a document, that's overkill.
md2word is designed for a different workflow: open a browser tab, paste your content, and get a file. No setup. No learning curve.
Is this repository open source? This repo contains documentation and examples only. The core application is proprietary (closed source). If you're interested in contributing to the docs or reporting issues, feel free to open an Issue.
What Markdown syntax is supported? All common Markdown: headings, paragraphs, lists, code blocks, tables, blockquotes, bold, italics, and more. Check the live site for the latest supported features.
Is there an API? There is an API-key-based batch conversion capability for integration use cases. Availability, access policy, and documentation format may vary; please check the website or contact us for the current status.
How are my files and privacy handled? Uploaded files and assets are used temporarily for conversion, and generated outputs are scheduled for cleanup. The service also keeps basic technical logs (such as IP and user agent) for security and abuse prevention. See the privacy policy for details.
Can it replace Pandoc for advanced use cases? Not for everything. Pandoc is the right tool for automated pipelines and deep customization. md2word is built for quick, frictionless exports — not for scripting or batch workflows.
