Is this related to #461 in context of a "dev init"?
Perhaps we make a "template repo" for the project -- one for a Gradle project, one for a Maven project -- to help folks bootstrap and go faster for iteration 0.
Dev feedback likes breaking up so they can focus on just 1 build tool.
