Fixes #2009 when used with pyqt5. Does not seem to break anything on OSX. Could use some more testing on linux (@kernc @lanzagar) and windows (@ajda)

Works the same as before on my standard (hd) display, linux & qt5.

Looks like nothing changed for me. Linux Mint, 1920x1080. Perhaps this is not the issue this PR fixes.

But then I though I probably had PyQt4 here and that maybe it a PyQt5 thing and I installed PyQt5 and now I broke Python and I'm out.
