Plugins are just that--plugins. They are not standalone programs.

Many, Waves included, support control surfaces, generally using the MIDI protocol. Here's the documentation on that:

But, as you can see from from that page, that control needs to be passed through the host program.

Some programs, such as vMix, don't support that functionality (yet?).

Others, primarily audio focused ones, do.

If the plugin doesn't support external control surfaces for the desired behavior, there's nothing Companion can do.

If the host program doesn't support passing external signals to audio plugins, there's nothing Companion can do.

If the plugin supports using external control surfaces for the desired behavior and the host program supports passing along the external commands to the plugin, then you'd need a module for that host program, which you never specified.
