This seams like a great project! And so important for us early NOSTRiches that try to be sovereign with our content and nodes.
I contacted Start9 support to ask if this is something they would implement, and they said I should contact the developers and ask i you want to add it as a package to StartOS. They would "Start9 would be happy to assist and give pointers".

I just checked in Start9 support chat how many users, and got this answer.

_Hi, we don't have an exact number but can say that there are roughly between 4000 - 5000 "users". This is an estimate of the number of people who are actually regualry using their servers in some capacity.

That said, there have been around 13,000 unique instances of StartOS observed, which includes people whi run mulitple servers or test servers as well._

So a bit more info to consider when choosing what to do.

(Bonus points for Umbrel, which a lot of people run too. And I believe there isn't much difference in terms of packaging, as both use Docker iirc.)

I am not a developer, but am able to run some commands. I see the README at https://github.com/sudocarlos/haven-docker
and I am wondering how this will look in Start9. Will it be listed in the UI as a service running? Or will it only be accessible via SSH?

What need to be done for it to come up in the Marketplace?

This looks like it would be a great package for StartOS. Dockerizing Haven is a fantastic start, but it will take a bit more than just having a Dockerfile for it to run on StartOS.

The developer docs linked above by @rtbit are a great place to start. It is often easiest to start with hello-world as a template and then update the files one by one for the software being packaged.

It is worth mentioning the forthcoming StartOS 0.3.6 update leverages an entirely new SDK. While StartOS 0.3.6 is not yet in public Beta, it might be a good idea to package Haven for 0.3.6 from the outset instead of packaging it for both 0.3.5.x and 0.3.6.

Start9 has a matrix room here where all things service packaging are discussed. This matrix room is also where Jitsi links are shared for "Packaging Parties" where an existing software is re-packaged (usually over a single call). This is absolutely the place to be for someone willing to champion Haven to get it packaged for StartOS.

I had a look at the developer docs, and hello world.
I can clearly see that I do not have the skills to poll this off, since I am not a developer.
So I hope that someone with skills could take this the next steps.
Is there somewhere we can let a community for Start9 or other developers know about this? @dergigi @sudocarlos @Dominion5254 @derekross
So that maybe someone with the right skill set could pull this off and make it happen.

Hate to hijack a thread but I'm working on HAVEN Kit so I wanted to post it here. Easy to use containers with configuration UI so you can get a HAVEN relay going in about few clicks. The Start9 package needs to be updated (probably will tonight) so I would recommend waiting for the next version release, but both HAVEN Kit and HAVEN Kit for Umbrel should work pretty well. New issues and PRs are welcome.
