Getting Started

So you want to try Pyberry? We're glad you came! All you need to do is head on over here to grab a copy of the latest version. Be sure to grab the version specific to your platform.

Pyberry is one file, and doesn't require installation! All you need to do is unzip the file and run it. It will open in a command prompt or terminal window, so don't let that shock you! This is by design - we wanted Pyberry to be lightweight and fast, so we got rid of the traditional graphical interface, or GUI. But we tried our best to make it just as user friendly as any program with a GUI. All you have to do is follow the directions on screen, type what you want, and press enter. In most cases, you can get back to the main screen if you want just by pressing enter.

Another cool thing about Pyberry is we wanted it to be usable across computers - so if you have a desktop computer and a laptop, for example, you can keep the same database of books on both. By default, it stores it by its configuration file, tucked away. But, by following the prompts in the program, you can change it to be someplace like your Dropbox, and use it on multiple computers. Just like magic!
