Domain names as handles is a flagship feature of the Bluesky network. It follows rather naturally that users ought also be able to log into the network using their own domains.

Given that rsky is part of a larger ‘freedom project’, it seems prudent to consider complementary, alternative protocols to atproto for various critical network layers.

The more web-aligned the better.

wouldn't we need to propose a modification to the OAuth specification in atproto for indieauth and then also fedCM?

I suppose we'd also want to prototype the two use cases with such a proposal by standing up a demo PDS that can act as a relying party or as and idp, yes?

Exactly; a solid proposal is essentially predicated on a working prototype.
