There's no particular camera needed, any good camera should have clear face detection |

The Amcrest you linked has a F1.0 aperture and 1/1.2" image sensor. While that is helpful for faster shutter speeds (less motion blur) and night vision (more light hitting the sensor), wide apertures result in a much shallower depth of field which in practice means a high minimum focus distance. That camera will start to lose focus below ~3 metres, so if you were using it above a front door for example it would need to catch faces some way out. |

Thank your for the explanation. Do you have a recommendation for a camera?

It will be mounted about 4 – 5 ft high. It will be outside. Distance for detection and face recognition is 3 – 7 ft. bullet cam is preferred but I could do any oudoor camera

It is based on various factors - where you want to mount it, angles, distances, available light, indoor/outdoor, any preference on form factor.

With that short distance your sweet spot is probably anything from Dahua/Amcrest/Hikvision with a 2.8mm-3.6mm lens, aperture f1.6-f2.0, 4MP on a 1.8" sensor. Check the cameras datasheet on the minimum focus distance with your chosen lens. |

What are the top 3 Cameras for clear face detection. I have been researching it but it hard to tell how they will work. I assume a fast shutter and low aperture would be best. I don't really care on the brand just want a good face detection unit. I found this one *** https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-Nightvision-Microphone-Detection-IP8M-TB2886EW-AI/dp/B0B13YRBPY/ref=sxin_16_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?cv_ct_cx=amcrest+face+camera&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=1-1-6024b2a3-78e4-4fed-8fed-e1613be3bcce-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9zZWFyY2hfdGhlbWF0aWM&psc=1 **
Just seeing what people think?
And I would like other recommendations?
