Adding new "labels" or detectable objects

I have been googling and looking at youtube videos but cant figure out how I would be able to add a Lynx to be recognized. I have taken multiple frames on four different cameras that display a lynx. But I have no idea what to do after I have submitted the frames to Frigate+. I can see them there but I can only draw a box and select one of the existing labels like dog or cat. Is this even possible?

Adding a custom label like "lynx" is not currently possible with Frigate+ models. The available labels are predefined, and you can only annotate images using the existing supported object types. (1)

The currently supported animal labels in Frigate+ are: dog, cat, deer, horse, bird, raccoon, fox, bear, cow, squirrel, goat, rabbit, skunk, and kangaroo. (1)

However, Frigate+ does have candidate labels that don't have enough data yet to be included in the model. Using these labels helps add support sooner. The candidate labels include animals like badger, possum, rodent, chicken, groundhog, boar, hedgehog, mountain_lion, crocodile, turkey, monkey, coyote, porcupine, sheep, snake, lizard, duck, and wombat. Unfortunately, "lynx" is not currently in either the supported or candidate label lists. Where possible, candidate labels are mapped to existing labels during training (for example, baby labels are mapped to person). (1)

Your options are:

• Annotate your lynx images as cat (the closest existing label) to help improve detection in that category
• Check the Frigate+ website periodically for updates to candidate labels, as additional object types are added in future releases (1)

You can enable candidate labels by editing the camera settings in Frigate+. (1)

Yeah, unfortunately no way to add your own objects with Frigate+

However, you can add your own sublabels with the new object classification feature in 0.17. You could make Lynx an object sublabel of cat.

This would be a slow process. You would need to submit lynx pictures as cats in Frigate+, and after you are detecting them with the custom Frigate+ model, then you can start classifying cats into lynxes and others.

You can submit your existing lynx pictures to Frigate+ for future detections as cats. But unfortunately there is no official way to get your prior lynx pictures into the object classifier; only future ones after you've set it up.
