What is Codewars?

Codewars is a website that provides coding challenges, or coding katas, that build knowledge of coding fundamentals and problem solving skills. Details can be found at Codewars.

Why should I join the Black Code Collective clan?

You should join us if you’re interested in improving your coding skills with other developers who can hold you accountable in a friendly, competitive environment.

How does this work?

Each week we will choose a new kata that we will work on together. We attempt to pick katas that have JavaScript, Python, and Ruby language options. (If you code in another language, please let us know in the codewars channel of our Slack team and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.)

Once we’ve finished the weekly kata, we share our solutions in the codewars channel. We attempt to choose katas that can be completed by all clan members. However, because the skill level of our clan varies, there will be weeks when the chosen kata is not ideal. When this happens, feel free to skip a week or work on other katas independently.

How do I sign up?

First, create a Codewars account and specify “Black Code Collective” as your clan. Then, join the codewars channel of our Slack Team. Done!

What if I need help?

Ask for it in the codewars channel! We’re nice people, we won’t bite—promise!
