Seven new diagrams, a colour rule for the old ones, and 18 titles that match the app
New diagrams: the three Regular Polygon tools, Paint Region in three panes,
Point: Center of Circle, Reverse Direction, Show Region Direction.
Colour, on Blossom's call: a diagram carries the colour of what it produces.
Curves green, regions orange, direction marks take the colour of the thing
they mark, clicked points navy, calculated points hollow point-blue. Ten
draw-tool scenes lost their fill and went green; five shape-node cards had
their fill matched to their stroke and gained numbered points with a socket
legend. Select is deliberately untouched: its blue and green are the marquee
colours, not output types.
Naming: 18 page titles disagreed with the app's own command names, Compass
Circle being the oldest of them. All 18 retitled, with their breadcrumbs,
17 Menu paths, 137 link texts and 2 stale node link texts. Slugs left alone
so the app's Help buttons still resolve.
Also: the socket legend work caught two wrong labels, a socket called Point
that is really On Circle, and Major and Minor for Major Axis and Minor Axis.
Revert to Saved loses the switch-documents section, an edge case documented
in more detail than the behaviour deserved.
Docs: American spellings, Explode retirement, new nodes, prose pass
American spellings throughout. 346 replacements across the public text:
centre, colour, grey where it was not the noun, millimetre, behaviour,
organise and the rest. Gray keeps its E, which is how Blossom spells it.
No UI label in the app was ever British, so the wiki and the app agree.
Explode is now one node. node-explode.md is new and answers for every
shape, taking a group apart a layer at a time. The six per-type pages
stay reachable and each carries a retirement notice pointing at it;
documents built with them still open and still work.
Two new node pages, Compare and Select by Condition, both with an icon
pending note for Vera.
Export grouping documented in preferences, export-svg and export-dxf:
Group by Layers and Group by Outline Color, alongside hairline black.
Math gains Absolute Value. Tangent rewritten to the new behaviour:
options shown, nearest one chosen, click again for the other.
Select Parents and Select Children written into selection.md from
Theo's spec, with two rows in menu-select.md and dead icon references.
Not shipped yet. Both ADD to the selection rather than replacing it.
Node prose pass. Every node page now carries at least a short
explanation, on the principle that a reader landed there because the
interface did not explain itself. Command pages are getting the same
treatment, 14 of 34 so far.
First-pattern figures rebuilt. The Slider and Math wires crossed on the
way into Rotate, which made the Home page banner read as though Angle
and Repeat were swapped. They were not; the layout was wrong. Also
dropped a degree sign from the Angle socket label, which the app does
not have.
Bottom nav on every page, Apollonius, and the Combine menu completed
Navigation
- Every page's own Previous/Next line is now repeated at the bottom, directly
above the Related heading. Done by tools/add_bottom_nav.py, which finds that
heading BY NAME rather than by position, so the nav never lands in the middle
of a real section.
circles-arcs
- New Apollonius section with its own figure, apollonius-cases.png, built by a
new generator build_apollonius.mjs. Three worked cases: two lines and a
circle, three circles, two points and a line. One solution solid, the rest
light and dotted. Placed immediately before the Arc tool heading.
- circle-methods.png reverted: Apollonius gets a separate diagram, not a
fourth panel on the existing one.
selection
- Select Outer Edges removed. It is a node-side command and does not belong on
the modeling-view page. Added a Related link to the node page instead.
transform-tools
- Rewritten so the page only ever speaks of transforming POINTS. Locus does not
transform objects, it transforms the free root points an object is built
from, and everything standing on them re-solves and follows.
- New callout before the Transform menu heading: if root points are shared with
objects you do not want to move, run Edit > Detach first.
- Reference and handle clicks snap in all the same ways a point does.
align-distribute
- The same Detach callout added at the bottom, below the refusal paragraph.
regions-booleans
- Paint Region added to the list of ways to build a region.
menu-combine
- The Combine menu has eight commands and this page listed six. Paint Region
and Split (Bake) added, in menu order.
- Two new pages: combine-paint.md and combine-split.md. Split's page says
plainly that it is a one-shot bake, not a live boolean.
- The Previous/Next chain shifted, so combine-fill, combine-autoregion,
combine-difference and menu-transform changed their nav lines, and _Sidebar
gained both entries.
- Both icons rendered by the normal exporter from Vera's glyphs, tinted region
like the rest of the row.
A Videos page, the point glyphs in every figure, and the layers anatomy rebuilt
The figures now draw the rule the canvas follows: a solid disc is free, a ring
with a dot slides along its host, a hollow ring is calculated. The glider's
green halo and the intersection's crosshair are gone, since the glyph says it.
A circle's divisions are drawn as sliders, a segment's and an arc's as hollow,
which is the distinction the code makes. The struck arc now ends in open space,
because ending both ends on crossings implied an arc has to.
Constructed geometry is green rather than accent blue on the lines, circles,
ellipses, arcs, primer and rectangle figures. Blue means POINT in the data-types
legend, and a blue constructed line beside dark points told the reader the
wrong thing.
The layers panel anatomy is rebuilt. Its object names come from the app's own
prefix table, so the figure and the page above it finally agree: Grp1, Cir1,
Seg1. Its thirteen callouts are legible again after the canvas was trimmed to
what is actually drawn.
New page: Videos. The tutorial playlist with each video matched to the pages it
covers, and the two tutorial files linked under the videos they belong to.
Linked from Home as the first thing a newcomer sees, from the sidebar, from the
footer, and through the Getting Started chain.
Alt text follows the figures on points, lines, point on object, selection and
both divide pages. The divide alt now distinguishes a circle's divisions, which
you can turn, from a segment's, which you cannot.
Three rules the code added: the point glyph, the division ring, and which point a snap takes
A point is drawn to say whether you can move it. Solid disc is a free point,
ring with a dot moves on a leash, and a hollow ring is calculated: a crossing, a
midpoint, a division, a tangent point. The geometry decides where those are, so
there is nothing to drag (blossommerz/locus-hub#567).
A circle's divisions are a ring you can turn. On a centre-and-point circle
division zero follows the radius point; on any other circle you drag a division
and the whole ring rotates, arrow keys included. Two Divides on one circle give
two independent rings. Segments and arcs have ends, so theirs stay pinned
(blossommerz/locus-hub#565).
When two points sit on the same spot the snap takes the visible one. Hidden
points are still snappable, and auto-hide leaves plenty of them about, but
visible wins; age only decides between two of the same kind
(blossommerz/locus-hub#566).
Keyboard characters only: sweep all 245 English pages
Every character that cannot be typed on a US keyboard is replaced. Em dash
becomes a colon where it introduces a list bullet's description, matching how
the Italian pages already read, and a spaced hyphen everywhere else. The
Previous/Next angle quotes and the breadcrumb arrows become < and >, the menu
path triangle becomes >, arrows spell out as -> and <->, the ellipsis becomes
three periods, and the en dash and minus sign become a hyphen.
Two characters do two jobs and are split by context. The middle dot is a pipe
where it separates links and " x " where it is multiplication, as in Min + k x
Step and Radius x cos(Angle). The degree sign becomes " degrees" after a digit
and is dropped after a letter, where it was a stale reference to the Rotate
node's Angle socket, which no longer carries one.
Also: superscript two becomes 2, the square root sign becomes sqrt, the
division sign becomes /, less-than-or-equal becomes <=, and the decorative
emoji in Home, the footer, the sidebar, community and licensing are removed.
Kept: the command, shift and option key glyphs in the shortcut lines, and the
Greek letters used as math notation.
Verified: no file changed its line count, and no markdown table row changed its
cell count.
Docs: make the 3-panel Divide effect diagram full-width across node-divide + construct-divide (all languages)
Docs: sync English wiki to v0.1.348 behavior (19 pages — Divide arcs, Inspect read-out, color opacity, compass chains, auto-hide points, guides, zoom shortcuts, localization, cluster library)
Convert to Nodes: document 5 new Construct nodes + full-coverage note
Docs: macOS+Windows support, and click-to-enlarge on diagram images
Node pages: add Related back-link to the matching modeling tool
The 29 node pages that have a modeling twin each gain an "In the modeling view" entry pointing to the tool that builds the same thing on the canvas — the reverse of the modeling-to-node pass. On the seven that already had a Related section (the field-consumer, transform, and boolean nodes), the back-link is inserted as the lead bullet.
Node pages: describe every input and output socket; fix circle menu order
Every node page now carries a short description on each Inputs/Outputs socket (was ~237 bare across 59 pages), so a reader knows what each port takes or produces.
Also: document the working-unit warning in Preferences (the node graph is always millimeters; a stripe appears on the node pane when the working unit is not mm). Expand Random Per-Point (index-keyed value field, field-aware inputs only, deterministic). Fuller socket prose on Polygon (list in via Collect), Divide (list out via Item at Index), Perpendicular Bisector and Tangent (segment-or-points; the Side toggle).
Reorder the circle nodes to Center Point before Center Radius in the sidebar, the Primitives list, and prev/next nav, matching the app menu.
Edit menu (12 per-command pages incl. Snap to Objects); Node Library prev/next descends into all 79 node pages; enrich menu-select
