History / node split curves

Revisions

  • Thirteen new diagrams, Split Regions, and a selection that is not region orange Vector Math gets a diagram per operation, drawn on the standard figures and all six sharing one pair of vectors. Stroke placement, cap, join and the miter limit get one each, drawn by handing the real SVG property to the renderer. Split Curves gets a circle cut by three lines, which shows both that crossings open into ends and that arcs stay arcs. Select Parents and Select Children get a pane per press, on the same construction Select Roots uses. Select Roots is rebuilt: the image on the wiki could not be produced by any code in the tree, and its scene had been simplified to something its own alt text contradicted. The selection highlight is now red rather than gold, so it cannot be read as the region orange of the type colours. Split (Manual) is retired. It documented a trigger-driven node the app no longer has, and the Split page told readers to reach for it. The node page is now Split Regions rather than borrowing the command's Bake. Split Curves gains a command page ahead of the command landing. Math's modulo symbol, Move's precedence and bare-point rule, Preview's file migration and selected-beats-the-eye, and the screen calibration Reset and drop-the-override rule were all missing and are now documented. Video became Screencast, to match the app.

  • Split Curves gets a page The node breaks every curve at its crossings so each piece runs from one crossing to the next. Written against src/nodes/index.ts and src/geometry/region.ts: arcs stay arcs, curves meeting end to end are left alone, a curve crossing its own neighbor in the same shape is broken there too, and anything that is not a curve travels through untouched. The page also sets it against its two siblings. Split shatters closed regions into faces; Auto Region finds the same crossings but hands back enclosed faces and drops the loose ends. Split Curves keeps the curves, loose ends included, which is what a weave needs for its border terminations. It belongs to Combine, not Data, and sits beside Split in the sidebar and on the category page. The card is generated from the node definition.
