Dear @m3nu and Vorta maintainers,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing to inform you that I submitted my Google Summer of Code 2026 proposal for the Vorta project on March 31st, 2026. Proposal Link:Google Drive - GSoC 2026 Proposal
I want to express my sincere gratitude for maintaining Vorta and for considering me as a potential contributor. I'm genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to this important open-source backup solution.
Vorta Contributions (from proposal)
PR #2467 - fix: add missing errorText widget to change_passphrase.ui
"Looks good — the fix is correct and the test covers the regression." — @m3nu
Ready to merge after addressing minor git history cleanup.
PR #2468 - feat: show busy dialog while parsing archive contents for extract
"Good feature for #1570 — the indeterminate QProgressDialog is the right UX pattern here." — @m3nu
Under review — implemented feedback on dialog cleanup, status bar redundancy, and test strengthening.
PR #2469 - feat: Delete key removes items in source and profile lists
"Clean, focused PR. Reuses existing profile_delete_action and source_remove methods, so all validation (confirmation dialog, last-profile guard) is preserved. Tests cover both shortcuts. No new imports needed in production code." — @m3nu
Implemented cross-platform key binding using QKeySequence.StandardKey.Delete as suggested.
I am fully available for any questions, discussions, or additional tasks you'd like me to work on. Whether it's refining existing PRs, tackling new issues, participating in code reviews, or joining meetings—I'm eager to learn and contribute meaningfully to Vorta.
Are there specific issues or areas you'd like me to focus on? I'm ready to take on new challenges!
Would like as well to hear your thoughts about the proposal and whether I'm going in the right direction or not.
