The homebrew catalog build (darkxex catalog entry, release zip PPSA99313). It needs the game's own base files, which I don't have, so it can only get as far as its data check.

System tested

macOS 26.2, Apple M5, Apple clang 21, x86-64 under Rosetta 2, MoltenVK (MBridge build); and an Ubuntu 24.04 x86-64 container under Rosetta with llvmpipe (Mesa, LLVM 20.1.2).

What is shown

Nothing is presented. The title starts, opens its Vulkan device, registers the pad (pad: player 0 opened for user 268435456), loads its built-in shader programs and, without the game files, ends on its own:

Sys_Error: Could not load default font "Arial_Narrow"
[Doom 3 BFG] exit status 0: asking the shell to close the title

That is the title asking for its data. Someone with the game's base directory can take it from there.

Current blocker

On macOS with MoltenVK, plain main stops before that point, at the title's first rect-list draw: the pixel shader exports raw 32-bit values into a COLOR_32_32_32_32 UINT target and Metal refuses the pipeline (output of type float4 is not compatible with a MTLPixelFormatRGBA32Uint color attachment, vkCreateGraphicsPipelines: Vulkan result -3). Issue #9783; the pull request for it is linked there. With that change the title reaches the data check above. In one of three macOS runs it stopped earlier on AGC driver: guest memory is not readable at 0x7408b00000 (range 0x7408b00000+0xc) while preparing a rect-list draw; I have not reproduced that one.

On Linux with llvmpipe the title reaches the same data check on main.

How it was run

macOS: relinker --macos --to-rosetta --registry src/eboot.elf app with the package's sce_module/libc.prx beside the eboot and the package contents as app0/, then ./app with VK_DRIVER_FILES pointing at MoltenVK's ICD and SDL_AUDIODRIVER=dummy. Linux: --to-rosetta, run through /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 ./app.elf under xvfb-run.
