How to disable downloading an individual image (shift + D) in the photo viewer

Hi Patrik,

First of all thank you for this wonderful piece of software running as a Docker container on my Synology NAS. My goal is that all images in the database are only viewable for the users and not downloadable.
In the settings window under "Gallery -> Navigation Bar" I've disabled the "Download Zip" option. I've also disabled the "sharing" option. But when viewing an individual image there is still the option to download the individual image with "shift-D". How can I disable this option? I've no programming skills and hope that I've not overseen an option somewhere.

I do not think you missed a setting. Gallery -> Navigation Bar -> Download Zip only controls the zipped directory/search download button.

The individual lightbox download is currently hard-coded in the lightbox controls. The menu item links to:

/pgapi/gallery/content/<media path>

and the Shift + D shortcut creates the same download link from getOriginalMediaPath().

So there are two separate points here:

• Hiding/removing the lightbox download button and shortcut would need a code change or a custom build.
• Even if the UI were hidden, any user who can view the original image can still request the original image URL directly, because the browser needs access to display it.

If your goal is only to remove the convenient download affordance, that sounds like a reasonable feature request: a setting for the individual lightbox download action, separate from NavBar.enableDownloadZip. If your goal is a strict “view but cannot download/copy” policy, that is not really enforceable in a web gallery once full-resolution media is served to the client.
