Features available in the Moonlight app

This page lists the wide range of currently available features in Moonlight Tizen, including game streaming, host management, controller support, and advanced streaming customization. Feature availability and behavior may vary depending on TV hardware capabilities, Tizen version, host configuration, network environment, and connected peripherals.


Application Features

  • Compatible with all supported Tizen versions (5.5 or higher).
  • Modern UI and UX with a clean interface and smooth navigation.
  • Dedicated settings page organized into categories and options.
  • Multi-language interface with automatic language detection.

Host Features

  • Stream games from NVIDIA GameStream or Sunshine hosts (including popular forks).
  • Connect and pair with host PCs using IPv4, IPv6, or DNS hostnames with custom port support.
  • Automatic local network host discovery using an HTTP subnet scanner.
  • Centered host status indicator showing whether a host is online, offline, or unpaired.
  • Automatically adjust host PC resolution using Optimize Game Settings.
  • Play audio from the host and client device simultaneously.
  • Automatically toggle HDR state on the host PC to match the client's HDR setting.
  • Wake-on-LAN support over IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
  • Sort application lists in ascending or descending order.
  • Remove all paired host PCs with one click.

Input Features

  • Keyboard and mouse support for browsing and navigation.
  • Local co-op support with up to 4 connected controllers.
  • Gamepad axis support for in-app navigation.
  • Force feedback and mouse control through gamepad by long-pressing Start.
  • Swap face buttons to match different controller layouts.

Streaming Features

  • Stream up to 4K 60 FPS HDR content with Stereo audio.
  • H.264, HEVC, and AV1 codec support (requires a supported host GPU).
  • Choose between limited or full color range for more details in dark and bright areas.
  • Switch between Ultra Low Latency (Game Mode) and Low Latency (Video Enhancements).
  • Display connection warnings and real-time stream information through overlays.

Experimental Features

  • Unlock frame rate options up to 144 FPS (requires a compatible TV with a high refresh rate panel).
  • Increase video bitrate up to 150 Mbps (requires TV hardware with higher bitrate support).
  • Select 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound output (requires future Tizen WASM audio support).
