BroGlow 1.0.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 10:38

What’s new

  • Expired Codex questions now clear “Needs help” when their turn finishes. Connected lamps flash red three times unless another session still needs attention.
  • On macOS and Windows, reopening the popover returns to chats after five minutes closed. Configure the timeout or disable it in Settings.
  • Bonded lamps stay dark while disconnected instead of periodically pulsing - requires new firmware flashing.
  • [CI]: added caching for faster builds - requires manual running a separate warmup job.

Tested

Verified on macOS with several lamp boards. All tested lamp behaviors passed.

Install on macOS

With Homebrew installed:

First-time install

brew install broglow/tap/broglow
broglow install

Upgrade

brew upgrade broglow
broglow install

Run broglow install after installing or upgrading to register agent integrations and start the menu-bar app.

Setup guide

Manual downloads, Windows setup and enclosure files

macOS downloads

Choose the archive for your Mac from the assets below:

  • Apple Silicon: broglow-v1.0.3-aarch64-apple-darwin.tar.gz
  • Intel: broglow-v1.0.3-x86_64-apple-darwin.tar.gz

Both contain the native BroGlow app, ESP32-C3 SuperMini firmware and its source, checksums, operating guide and third-party notices. Follow the included guide to install. The app is not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Windows (x64)

Download broglow-v1.0.3-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc.tar.gz and extract it to a permanent folder. Open PowerShell in that folder and run:

.\broglow.exe install

This registers hooks, enables startup at login and launches the system-tray app. Use .\broglow.exe menubar to launch the tray interface directly, or .\broglow.exe for the terminal dashboard. The archive includes USB lamp support, its license and third-party notices; no installer, BLE support, firmware or manuals.

3D-printed enclosure (optional)

Download broglow-models-v1.0.3.zip for the five production parts 01–05 in stl/ (print orientation) and step/, plus BUILD.json. Print two copies of eye 02. The swappable mascot attaches with four Ø3×2 mm N52 magnets (two in the mascot, two in the traffic light). Slice the STL files for your printer; machine-specific 3MF/G-code is not included. See the printing and assembly guide.

The enclosure is also available on Printables and MakerWorld, with a shared print profile on MakerWorld. The model listings use CC BY 4.0; this repository retains its MIT license.

GitHub's Source code downloads contain sources and instructions; ready-to-print files are in the separate enclosure ZIP.

Checksums and verification

Each archive has a matching .sha256 file.
These assets passed automated checks; release builds do not establish fresh-machine permissions, physical lamp behavior or printed enclosure fit.

What's new

  • More accurate Codex status: pending questions stay red during subagent activity, and internal suggestion jobs no longer appear as active coding sessions.
  • Clearer setup instructions: start using BroGlow in the menu bar or terminal before you build a lamp, with an installation quickstart for first-time users.
  • Refreshed real-build photos for the landing page, status examples and social previews, plus GitHub stars and forks on the landing page.
  • Direct enclosure downloads from Printables and MakerWorld, alongside GitHub release archives and the source-generation instructions. MakerWorld has a shared print profile.
  • Automatic Cargo version updates through the documented release-tag command, keeping Cargo.toml, Cargo.lock and the release tag aligned.

The model listings use CC BY 4.0. The project repository remains MIT licensed.
