Changelog
Background metadata is faster and lighter (shared Tralbum API fetch, ID cache); startup unchanged; large playlists do less redundant network work after launch.
†Many thanks to tobias-d for sharing insights and approaches from their awesome bandcamp-player-extension project, it was super helpful.
Changed
1. Faster Titles†
- App now prefetches album/track lists from Bandcamp’s embedded data-tralbum JSON so the tracklist and titles appear almost immediately when loading URLs. Notifications also benefit with improved accuracy on URL load.
2. Faster custom-domain imports†
- Vanity URLs (e.g. custom domains that redirect to Bandcamp) are resolved in parallel with a persistent cache, making collection and wishlist imports much faster - the “skip custom domains” option is no longer needed.
3. Playlist titles now update automatically†
- During thumbnail retrieval for playlist items Album - Artist metadata is now retrieved and updated as well, instead of only updating when the URL is loaded.
4. Smoother Notification updates
- On some machines the smooth fade in and fade out caused flickering,
- A) Fade in/out can now be disabled in the settings to instantly show/hide instead.
- B) New notifications now update existing notification (if still on screen) instead of replacing it.
- C) Notification artwork optimized to display seamlessly instead of popping in late.
5. Load Album List Menu QOL Change
- Using the Edit or Delete Controls in the playlist sidebars
... Menu > Load Album Playlist > sub menu- opens a popup to rename or delete, once you've finished the menu will reopen so you can continue to edit and delete playlists without reopening the menu manually every time.
Fixed
1. IV progress bar effect
- Image Viewer Mode's progress bar appeared solid with no animation regardless of what setting was enabled. It now behaves the same as Regular Mode progress bar.
2. Incorrect art
- In rare edge cases the incorrect artwork might display (if product images are also included on the page)
- App now prefers canonical album art from page HTML over alternate artwork; validates on-disk cover cache by art id so package mockups cannot stick after a bad capture and self heals.
3. Thumbnail retrieval stalling
- Occasionally thumbnails failed to retrieve especially in larger lists after imports, this has been hardened and improved with multiple retries and several edge cases accounted for.
4. App unresponsive after deleting large playlist
- Playlist changes were saved per entry even when added or deleted in groups - new bulk delete logic saves per action to avoid redundancy. Other uncaught bulk scenarios also cleaned up.
5. Album Theme URL Load Transitions
- During URL loads the base dark theme could flash in between the previous and next URLs palette, especially if the URLs palette hadn't been retrieved yet. The app now keeps the previous URLs theme until the next URLs palette is ready skipping extra redundant repaints.
6. Pre-Release Albums
- Pre-release albums now get a clear “Nothing to Play Yet” prompt instead of failed autoplay (Recent improvements regressed this features - it should now work as intended).
7. Dangling Errors
- Cleaned up a few harmless errors in the console and error log, it is now squeaky clean.
