brainpalace init --git-history / --no-git-history + an interactive prompt (default no) to opt into indexing git commit history (message + changed-file list) as searchable
chunks. Privacy-first: written to git_indexing.enabled only when enabled.
git_indexing.path_filter config — limit git-history indexing to commits touching
specific repo-relative paths (git log -- <paths>); empty = all commits. For mono-repos
where one .git/ serves several projects.
brainpalace init --migrate-graph-store / --no-migrate-graph-store + an interactive
prompt (default yes) to upgrade an already-initialized project from the legacy simple
graph store to sqlite. The existing graph is replayed into sqlite on next start (JSON kept
for rollback); non-interactive runs only migrate with the explicit flag (or --yes).
brainpalace status rows: LSP (enabled languages / disabled), Git Index (on + commit
count / off), and the graph store type with a temporal-availability note
(sqlite, temporal vs simple — no temporal validity).
Changed
GraphRAG defaults flipped to on + persistent.ENABLE_GRAPH_INDEX now defaults to true and GRAPH_STORE_TYPE to sqlite (was false/simple) in settings.py; brainpalace init writes graphrag.store_type: sqlite. Existing projects keep their
configured store_type until they opt into the migration above.
Gemini removed from CLI embedding providers.VALID_EMBEDDING_PROVIDERS and the wizard
texts no longer offer gemini for embeddings (the server has no Gemini embedding provider);
Gemini remains a summarization provider.
Documentation
Graph defaults corrected across all docs.ENABLE_GRAPH_INDEX default updated to true; GRAPH_STORE_TYPE default updated to sqlite in GRAPHRAG_GUIDE.md, CONFIGURATION.md, and the configuring-brainpalace plugin skill. brainpalace init
also writes graphrag.enabled: true by default.
git_indexing.path_filter documented. New config key limits git-history indexing to
specific repo-relative paths (runs git log -- <paths>), useful in mono-repos where one .git/ serves multiple sub-projects. Documented in CONFIGURATION.md and GIT_HISTORY.md.
Temporal/simple warning added. Explicit ⚠️ callout in GRAPHRAG_GUIDE.md that store_type: simple makes temporal validity unavailable — no valid_from/valid_until,
no invalidation, no as_of queries, no decision supersession. sqlite is now the default
so these features work out of the box.
Embedding provider tables corrected.brainpalace-embeddings.md command and
configuring-brainpalace skill now list only the real embedding providers: OpenAI, Cohere,
Ollama. Gemini, Grok, and sentence-transformers removed from embedding provider lists
(they are not embedding providers; Gemini/Grok remain in summarization lists).
kuzu backend scrubbed from all docs. The embedded-DB Kuzu backend was removed from
the codebase; references replaced with sqlite/SQLitePropertyGraphStore across the README,
server README, plugin commands (config/graph/setup), skills, reference guides, and the docs/design/* architecture diagrams + their .puml/.mmd sources. (Server code retains a
graceful store_type: kuzu → simple downgrade so old configs never crash.)
GRAPH_EXTRACTION_MODEL standardized to short formclaude-haiku-4-5 (was claude-haiku-4-5-20251001) in GRAPHRAG_GUIDE.md defaults table and YAML examples.
Gemini model IDs updated to the current generation. The superseded gemini-2.0/ 1.5 (and stale gemini-3-*) names were swept across code defaults, docs, and skills to
the live IDs: default gemini-3.1-flash-lite (cheapest, stable), premium gemini-3.5-flash,
pro gemini-3.1-pro-preview. Gemini removed from CLI embedding providers (server has no
Gemini embedding).
