Research Question

Single sentence description:
Provide DOTP staff with exploratory data and analysis for their upcoming legislative report regarding

revenue vehicle hours, ridership, and passenger mile impacts on the services offered by operators to which Sections 99314.6 and 99314.7

Detailed description:
Discussed with Peter and Cayman about PUC 99314.11, specifically about sub-section (d)(1)

(d) (1) On or before November 30, 2025, the department shall submit a report to the Legislature on the revenue vehicle hours, ridership, and passenger mile impacts on the services offered by operators to which Sections 99314.6 and 99314.7 do not apply pursuant to subdivision (a).

Explained that CA SCO has a list transit operators with metrics, but wanted to see if DDS has any existing data/analyses to piggyback from.

Initial work plan is to compare the operators metrics in the CA SCO list to the NTD warehouse data. See which operators match, who is unique to both source. See if any metrics match/ not match between both sources.

How will this research be used?

Data from this analysis will be submitted to DOTP staff to inform their leg report as required above.
