Why do the devs not want to add a discovery engine?

I'm just curious as to the rationale, as I have seen a few suggestions for this that have been closed without any comments.

Hey, its not that I am completely opposed, but its a huge feat, that does not fit well within the goal of Shelfmark
There Shelfmark is just to get your books (or audio books) from the internet into your library, trying to keep it small so its maintainable ("we" are not a team, it's just me, the main Dev, and some contributors) and it's a side project that I can't dedicate too much ressources on.
But mainly, it's that shelfmark is not the layer you would want your discovery engine to be at. The engine should live above the library, not under it (shelfmark does not keep a history of which books you downloaded, and even if it did, we don't have access to the whole library and books you own, just the one it downloaded for you)
It would be better to make this ask on the library itself (CWA, Grimmory, Kavita, etc.) or even a layer above, like GoodReads)
