Hi @callumalpass

It's been a while! Thanks again for this wonderful everyday tool.
I have a question regarding exporting the task calendar to a file (.ics). It's an essential tool for me, but it causes daily friction. I love planning my work in Tasknotes. I primarily assign a date and time for scheduling, then a duration, which allows me to see the task in the calendar and view my week. I also use the due date as information and a reminder (it appears with "DUE" in the calendar), but without any connection to the weekly/monthly work plan. Having practiced GTD for many years, this is a common practice. However, this poses a problem when automatically exporting the .ics file. It exports the task with the scheduled date and time as the start date and the due date as the end date.

Do you think it would be possible to add an option that would allow exporting the planning date as the start date of the calendar event, and the duration as the end date of the calendar event?

Example: a task scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 for a duration of two hours becomes a calendar event with a start date of Tuesday at 10:00 and an end date of Tuesday at 12:00.

For the due dates, we could imagine:

  • either that they are not exported
  • either they are exported specifically to another file called "deadline.ics"
