[FR]: Ability to Associate a Note with an Instance of a Recurring Task

Problem Statement

There exists the ability to associate a note with a task. I run several recurring events that I create notes to detail the events of. I have made TaskNotes for these events to appear in my calendar. I would like the ability to associate my notes with instances of the event.

For example, I ran my movie night last week. I would like to click on the calendar event for last week and quickly open up the note for that event.

Proposed Solution

Two pieces of data are required for this:

1. The date of the recurrence
2. A link between the TaskNote and the note I want to associate

Since including both pieces in the properties of the TaskNote might become overwhelming, maybe the note I want to associate with the TaskNote could be the one to host this information in its properties. My events already have the date of the event in them, so all they would need is a property to establish the link, something like "tasknote" would probably work just fine.

Hi @lankly , thanks for the suggestion. This kind of thing is possible at the moment with ICS events. So if you have, say, a subscription to a Google Calendar and there are recurring events there, you can create a note relating to each instance of that event.

I'll have a think about implementing something similar for recurring TaskNotes. I'll have to think about the interface for this though. It would require using a different modal when selecting a recurring instance in the Advanced Calendar. Or adding an extra option to the right-click context menu (which might work better).
