[FR]: The ability to set a task to repeat on the last day of the month

Problem Statement

At the moment, I haven't found this option.
For example, if you set a task to repeat on the 31st of each month, then a month with only 30 days will simply be skipped and the task will immediately move to the next month with 31 days.

Perhaps this could be called a bug, I'm not sure.

Proposed Solution

It would be a great addition to the other existing repeat options.

Hi @TonyAtlas . Thanks for this FR. I'll look into it.

For the moment, you should be able to manually set a task to repeat on the last day of the month.

First, create a task with the basic values that you want, and set it to recur on the first day of the month. You can have a look at its recurrence value in the frontmatter. You'll see something like:

FREQ=MONTHLY;BYMONTHDAY=1

If you make make the 1 negative:

FREQ=MONTHLY;BYMONTHDAY=-1

the task should appear throughout the plugin on the last day of the month.

The solution of using -1 is great, but this is still a problem (a bug) if you don't want to repeat at the end of the month but just every month and the recurrence_anchor is set to "completion". Then if the task is not done on schedule but is done on the 31st, the DTSTART gets reset to the 31st and following months without 31 days don't have a scheduled date.
The ideal solution for such cases would be to adjust scheduled dates to the last day of the month while keeping the DTSTART set to 31st.

I suspect the same thing would happen if the recurrence rule were yearly and the task happened to be done on Feb.29. It would not be rescheduled until 4 years later.

Thank you for reporting this. This should be resolved in release 4.8.0, so I am going to close this issue now.
