Planning materials for guest speaking at Carlsbad High School and Sage Creek High School CS classes on March 12, 2026.

The Talk

Three sessions, two schools, two experience levels:

Time School Course
8:30-10:30 AM Carlsbad High School Intro to Computer Science
1:03-2:14 PM Sage Creek High School Intro to Computer Science
2:19-3:30 PM Sage Creek High School CS Principles & Advanced Programming (Java)

Core Thesis

  1. The junior developer job is disappearing. AI ate the bottom rungs of the ladder.
  2. The top has never been more valuable. Senior engineering roles pay more than ever precisely because of #1.
  3. Curiosity and gumption separate you, not skill. Follow-through, serious curiosity, and passion that leaves a trail of evidence.
  4. Use college strategically. Network, explore broadly, follow through on what interests you. It's about who you know.
