unable to see commands or highlights in google's AI overview

the background color and the text on it in the AI overview of Google's search results, are both variants of white so it is very hard to see

Yep, Google's AI Overview is very unreadable in most cases:

I've been working on some enhancements to this and I'll prepare a PR with proposed changes in a little bit.

Sorry, but per #1810 (comment), as of now the Google userstyle isn't being maintained and won't receive new fixes. This may change in the future, but as of now the way Google search is architectured style wise makes it very prone to breakage.
