Problem:
There are PBIs assigned to numbers in the rule editor that have been deemed not helpful, not implementable, or a combination that is covered by another rule. What do we do with the PBI and the number in the rule editor. The Goal is a set of rules created for the POC. If we want the numbers to be consecutive. We would need to reassign the number to a new rule definition. In which case, would you lose what you have done before. We desire retention of the rule. A good place to do this is in the PBI.
Solution:
Option 1 -
Reuse the PBI and the Rule editor for a different rule. Result of doing this, we would lose documentation of the work that has been done and the troubleshooting around it.
Option 2 -
Close it and mark the PBI as not implementable and the Rule editor left as is, change the name to something else so it would not be part of DDF. Could name it DDF - Fail. These can be reviewed and marked as non-implementable.
Option 3 -
Copy the YAML, attach to the PBI, reuse the rule editor number.Close the PBI.
We have started a new process where the recommendation is a request of an issue which generates a PB. The PBI is the ideas for a rule. This allows the rule to not originate from the Rule Editor. We will add the Rule editor number in the PBI once it is the rule is deemed as feasible for implementation. This will allow the rule editor to be assigned to a different PBI if the rule is deemed not implementable.
What should we do with each of these in the current PBIs assigned Rules?
