Challenges

My most difficult challenge when implementing this project were:

  • Understanding of MQTT protocol.
  • Connection issues between MQTT server and client.
  • Configuring MQTT packages and WiFi in the Buildroot.

Lessons Learned

The most important topics I learned from this project were:

  • Interfacing sensors with Raspberry Pi 3.
  • Building custom kernel images by enabling packages in Buildroot.
  • Enabling I2C Driver and implementing user application to interface with sensor.
  • Configuring network packages for MQTT and WiFi in Buildroot.
  • Implementing MQTT python application.
  • Debugging MQTT connection issues.
