Are Legacy-marked models to be deleted later?

I like this model. it works now better for me (Russian language) then newer Nemotron Streaming 3.5. That is why I'm wondering what does "legacy" badge mean

Eventually yes, but the same Parakeet V3 model is available with the new runtime. Search parakeet and you can find it. There will be a obvious upgrade path for people still using older models

First of all, thank you for this great project — I really appreciate the work that goes into it, and I've already left a small donation to support it.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the deprecation of Parakeet V3 in favor of Nemotron Streaming 3.5, specifically from a German-language perspective.

I've been testing the new model intensively for the past three days with German input, and here's what I found:

• Speed: There is some difference in speed, but in practice it doesn't meaningfully affect the overall workflow. (I don't have exact benchmark numbers, this is just from my day-to-day usage.)
• Streaming: Nemotron Streaming 3.5 clearly wins here, since Parakeet V3 didn't support streaming at all.
• Accuracy (German): This is where Parakeet V3 is still noticeably better. It correctly places grammatical punctuation, spells words accurately, and overall has a higher recognition accuracy for my use cases. One specific issue with the new model: if I pause briefly while speaking (e.g. to think about how to continue), it tends to insert a period and start a new sentence right after, breaking up what should be one continuous thought. Parakeet V3 handles this much better — I can pause, think, and continue, and it still transcribes the whole thing as one coherent sentence.

Given this, I'd personally prefer to keep using the older model a bit longer rather than switch to one that produces more transcription errors in German. Streaming is a nice-to-have for me, but accuracy matters more.

I understand priorities may differ depending on the target languages, but I wanted to share this data point in case it's useful for the deprecation timeline or for others working with German.

There is no deprecation in favor of another model. Not sure where you got that idea of.

Legacy is merely a different format whose support will be removed.

Parakeet V3 exists in the new format and you can use it.

No models are going away, you will need to just download the new version. There will be an explicit upgrade for people still using old models. Things will not just break out of the blue
