When interacting with an item, the announcement elements are injected into the DOM but not cleaned up.

Steps to reproduce
- Open inspector, watch body
- Drag an item repeatedly
What happens
Multiple announcement divs are injected and left in the DOM.
What I expect to happen
The announcement divs are tidied up, although I'm not exactly sure of the intention or appropriate mechanism.
