Windows SmartScreen

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because myMusic is a new unsigned app from an independent developer. This does not automatically mean the app is unsafe. It means Windows does not recognize the app yet because it is not code-signed with a trusted certificate and has not built a download reputation.

Only bypass SmartScreen if you downloaded myMusic from this official GitHub release.

To continue:

  1. Click More info.
  2. Check that the app name is myMusic.
  3. Click Run anyway.

What's new

  • Updated release docs for the installer-first Windows download.
  • Added a clean app screenshot to the README.
  • Bumped the Windows installer version to v1.0.1.

First Windows release of myMusic.

Download

Recommended: download myMusic-v1.0.0-windows-setup.exe from the Assets section below and run the installer.

Portable option: myMusic-v1.0.0-windows.zip is also available if you prefer a no-installer version. If you use the zip, extract it first and keep myMusic.exe inside the extracted folder.

Install

  1. Download myMusic-v1.0.0-windows-setup.exe.
  2. Run the installer.
  3. Follow the setup prompts.
  4. Launch myMusic from the installer, Start Menu, or desktop shortcut if you selected one.

The installer does not require Python, FFmpeg, or developer tools. Everything needed to run myMusic is bundled.

Windows SmartScreen warning

Windows may show a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning the first time you run the installer or app. This can happen because myMusic is a new Windows app and is not code-signed yet, so Windows does not have much reputation history for it.

Only continue if you downloaded myMusic-v1.0.0-windows-setup.exe from this official GitHub Release page.

To run it:

  1. Click More info on the SmartScreen warning.
  2. Confirm the app name is myMusic-v1.0.0-windows-setup.exe or myMusic.exe.
  3. Click Run anyway.

If you do not see Run anyway, your Windows security settings, school/work device policy, or administrator settings may be blocking unknown apps. In that case, do not turn off security protections just for this app.

How to use myMusic

  1. Copy a Spotify track link.
  2. Open myMusic.
  3. Paste the Spotify link into the text box.
  4. Click Preview Song Details to check the detected title, artist, and album.
  5. If the preview looks right, click Download.
  6. Wait for the download and conversion to finish.
  7. Open your Windows Downloads folder to find the finished MP3.

This version supports single Spotify track links. It uses the Spotify link for metadata, searches YouTube Music for a matching result, downloads audio, converts it to MP3, and writes basic title, artist, and album tags.

Known limitations

  • Playlist and album downloads are not supported yet.
  • The app chooses the first YouTube Music match automatically.
  • Custom output folders and embedded artwork are not implemented yet.
  • Download progress messages are still basic.
