because of the way things are imported, there is a sort of closure that can happen where the change of the member variable isnt visible inside methods where its referenced. changing the way things are referenced fixes this. i didnt test it exactly as its used in SirCAL, so it didnt affect me then :-/
this doesnt need to be released immediately, because i already made the change by hand on the production machine.
