Creating default object from empty value in

I am getting `Creating default object from empty value in`

on this line: `$this->error = $e->getMessage();`

Looks like this happens when there is a database connection error. I believe 
the reason is that the PDO object has not yet been instantiated and so it 
cannot set $this->error = something.

My solution is to throw the exception up the chain and then handle it myself. 
So the new constructor looks like:

public function __construct($dsn, $user="", $passwd="") {
    $options = array(
        PDO::ATTR_PERSISTENT => true, 
        PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE => PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION
    );

    try {
        parent::__construct($dsn, $user, $passwd, $options);
    } catch (PDOException $e) {
        throw $e;
    }
}

And I handle it like:

try {
    $db = new db("mysql:host=localhost;dbname=test", "root", "root");
} catch (PDOException $e) {
    echo $e->getMessage();
}

I changed that try/catch block from this:

try {
    parent::__construct($dsn, $user, $passwd, $options);
} catch (PDOException $e) {
    $this->error = $e->getMessage();
}

to this:

try {
    parent::__construct($dsn, $user, $passwd, $options);
} catch (PDOException $e) {
        trigger_error($e->getMessage());
        return false;
}

I'm pretty sure that should help trigger the error so you don't have to wrap 
the called to create a new db object in a catch/try. I know this is over a year 
old, but let me know if that doesn't help. I'm going to roll this into the next 
release.

I just committed the fix for this issue. I don't think I'm allowed to created a 
new zip download file so you will have to check the changes out of SVN or grab 
them from here:
