Some emoji don't show up as emoji, but instead unicode alternates

Abstract

Some emoji e.g. "warning⚠️" or "heart❤️" show up as small black and white unicode representations (see screenshot below) while others e.g. "scream😱" or "thanks/pray🙏" show up correctly. For example, warning emoji appears as ⚠ U+26A0 [WARNING SIGN]

That seems to be your browser's native rendering of those—at least, in Firefox and Chrome on Linux, I'm seeing the same — putting "\u26a0 \u{1f631}" in HTML causes the browser to render the first as a monochrome glyph, and the second as a colored emoji (unless I add a \ufe0f after the warning character). So this is expected behavior, as far as I'm concerned.
