Update HAOS VM

I've tried to find the answer to this question in the Issues and other Discussions but nothing leapt out.

Ive installed an HAOS VM using the script at https://community-scripts.github.io/ProxmoxVE/scripts?id=haos-vm&category=IoT+%26+Smart+Home. It was a while ago and back then the HA version was v16.3. It works fine, no issues.

HA is now saying a new version is available (v17.1) and im unsure on the most appropriate upgrade path. Rerun the above script or run the HA update via the HA settings page.

Anyone care to provide a clue?

HAOS is an VM? HA has his own build-in updates? im currently up2date, but you should see the updates here:

Yep, I see the update in HA settings, no problem.

My question is for the maintainer of the script which sets up the HA OS VM.

Will re-running the script do the upgrade or should I upgrade via the HA settings pane? Perhaps it doesn't matter?

only with ui. VM's doesnt have an update function integrated.

Do backups before. But it should be okay, its just the OS. Never get any issue in the last 3 or 4 years with OS Updates

So, just to confirm what you're saying.

Use HA's builtin update mechanism and dont re-run the script? I think that's what you're saying but want to be sure.
