The Online Update brings online play, more flexible controls and focused performance improvements to Def Jam on Android.

Added

  • Integrated FFNY Online lobby, public rooms, room codes, fighter selection and arena voting.
  • Spanish interface alongside English and Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Editable menu controls: move and resize A, B, the grouped D-pad and Enter/Start, with individual opacity settings.
  • An always-visible ONLINE shortcut with editable position, size and opacity.

Fixed and improved

  • Fixed touch controls remaining hidden after a gamepad is disconnected.
  • Touch controls stay visible during online sessions; the 15-second inactivity timeout applies offline. The ONLINE shortcut stays visible in both modes.
  • Improved access to the built-in Xbox ISO/XISO extractor on smaller screens.
  • Vulkan synchronization fixes for Mali devices, including the presentation and gamma/FXAA paths.
  • Reduced repeated Vulkan pipeline lookups, diagnostic clock reads and temporary touch-input allocations. Actual FPS gains depend on the device and scene.

The existing online protocol, saves, custom fight controls, asynchronous rendering, 30/60 FPS options and ISO extraction are preserved.

Installation

Download Def.Jam.apk and install it over your existing app using the same signing key. Do not uninstall or clear app data just to update; back up your saves. Android ARM64 required.

This is an experimental pre-release. Release v1.1 packages build 117; the supplied APK still reports version name 1.0 internally. The uploaded APK is unchanged.

Your own original USA Xbox disc/ISO is required. Use the built-in extractor or place the complete extracted contents in /storage/emulated/0/DefJamFFNY/game/, including default.xbe. No Xbox disc image or original game data files are included.

Experimental Android ARM64 APK, compiled on the maintainer’s PC and provided by contatg.

  • App version: 0.5.8-v22-about (versionCode 22).
  • Package: org.defjamffny.android.
  • Requires Android 10 or newer and an ARM64 device.
  • In-app About credits use contatg only; setup instructions and third-party notices are included.
  • Asynchronous rendering remains enabled internally; parallel vertex preparation is disabled.

Your own original Xbox game is required. Extract your disc/ISO and copy the complete directory contents to /storage/emulated/0/DefJamFFNY/game/, including default.xbe and all other game files and folders. An ISO file or default.xbe alone is insufficient. See SETUP.md.

The APK version, archive integrity and ARM64 libraries were inspected. This does not certify device gameplay, background/resume behavior or any particular FPS.
