Thanks for reporting this, @jonnieluv!

The core issue here is that adding ANTHROPIC_API_KEY as a secret doesn't automatically switch you off the continue-proxy provider. Even with the secret set, requests still route through Continue's proxy, which checks your Continue account credits — not your Anthropic key.

Workaround: Change your provider in config.yaml from continue-proxy to direct anthropic:

There are also two bugs in the current error handling that compound this:

1. The out-of-credits dialog was only matching the legacy string "You're out of credits!", but the proxy now returns "You have no credits remaining on your Continue account" — so the friendly dialog wasn't even showing; users were seeing the raw error instead.

2. The dialog only offers "Purchase Credits" with no option to switch to your own API key, leaving users stuck.

Both of these are addressed in an open PR (coming shortly). The dialog will be updated to also surface a "Use your own API key" path.
