copy repository under different name

Hi, thanks for providing backup solution that github lacks itself for any reason

it is possible to just make a copy of github repository with all its data (issues with comments, pr, milestones, etc.) to another github account or to a repository with different name under the same account?

Sadly not. You can copy the repository’s code and history to a different user or account, but due to GitHub’s API limitations it isn’t possible to create a full 1:1 copy with issues, pull requests, comments, and other metadata.

• Pull requests: not possible.
• Issues: could be re-created, but you would lose the original author and comment authors.
• Milestones: same limitation as with issues.
