Requiring Tahoe

I noticed the beta for 7.1 has macOS Tahoe as a minimum requirement. If you talk to a lot of developers, or you can ask an LLM whether many or most developers with Macs are avoiding Tahoe, you might have second thoughts about making that a minimum requirement for users. Or at least you'll want to maintain 7.0 for those developers.

I have an M3 MacBook and I'm sticking with Sequoia until Apple gets things right. even John Gruber of daring fireball has come down hard against Tahoe.

As already announced, the CotEditor 7.1 beta has just started, and the final release is planned to coincide with the release of macOS 27 this fall. For many years, CotEditor has followed a policy of supporting the latest two major macOS releases, and that policy has not changed. macOS 15 will remain supported until macOS 27 is released. In parallel, I'm currently preparing CotEditor 7.0.8, which will continue to support macOS 15.

Previous versions of CotEditor for older macOS releases are always available from the CotEditor Archives.
If you choose to remain on an older version of macOS for any reason, that's entirely your decision. In that case, please use the corresponding version of CotEditor. It's also likely to be more stable than the latest release for your system.

This request comes up every year, and the project's support policy is not going to change. I'll add it to the documentation so that I don't have to explain it repeatedly in the future.
