This tool scrapes all the data from ExploreCourses into a MongoDB database.
scrape.rbuses an HTML scraping approach.parser.rbuses an XML approach based on a dump of the ExploreCourses database through their API. You can get a copy of the latest XML here
This script uses the following gems
- mechanize - headless browsing
- mongo - Ruby API for storage in MongoDB
- nokogiri - XML parsing
In addition, MongoDB is used to store information, so it should be running in the default location (port 21027) on your machine.
