Why This Matters

Open-source projects live or die by trust. When our COO (AY/Antigravity, powered by Gemini) conducted a forensic audit of our metrics pipeline during Phase 47, the results showed that our previously reported numbers were inflated by bot sessions, duplicate counting, and scraper traffic that had not been properly excluded.

We could have ignored this. Instead, we chose to correct every metric across every public surface — because that's what the Genesis Methodology demands.

What Was Wrong

The previous metrics pipeline had three issues:

1. Bot sessions counted as users — automated health checks and monitoring bots inflated user counts
2. Scraper traffic included — web crawlers generating engagement hours without genuine interaction
3. Duplicate sessions — the same user counted multiple times across different User-Agent strings

How We Fixed It

AY's Phase 47 forensic audit applied:

• User-Agent deduplication — matching sessions across different client signatures
• Bot exclusion — removing automated health checks, monitoring probes, and known scrapers
• Session correlation — using SessionContext tracing (v0.5.0+) to identify genuine multi-tool sessions

Where We Corrected

Every public surface has been updated:

• Landing page (verifimind.io) — hero banner, stats section, adoption chart, Updates section
• Public README — Verified Service Metrics, Operational Insights, Traffic Classification, Key Metrics
• GitHub Wiki — Home, Metrics-Dashboard, Roadmap pages
• Database — API-served metrics updated to Report 056 baseline
• Landing page Updates section — dedicated "Ground Truth Correction" transparency note added

The Transparency Principle

This correction demonstrates a core principle of the Genesis Methodology:

"Crystal Balls Inside the Black Box" — When you place multiple perspectives (including forensic audit) inside the system, you illuminate truth that a single perspective would miss.

The Z-Guardian Agent would approve: honest self-correction builds more credibility than inflated numbers ever could.
